Monday, 22 December 2025 02:07kallowayBack at the beginning of the month, I decided for (Actual-not-Accidental) Advent to read something with 24 volumes... and I came up with Hikaru no Go, which has 23. But then I realized Whistle! has 24 and I can probably read and let go of that... While I started Whistle!... I have instead stuck with HikaGo. (Whoops?) And while my first time through HikaGo to completion was only a couple of years ago, I feel kind of different about it? Certain things really are telegraphed quite well and it's very clear the series ends with vol. 17, which is a little awkward considering it's a 23 volume series. (vol. 18 gets a pass as it's bonus/short stories) I feel like 19-23 is trying to set up something that just isn't strong enough to keep going, and while it should have ended sooner, ending where it did is fine.
I'll keep working my way through Whistle! as well. I know I haven't read it since I moved, and all I really remember is "soccer manga".
I'm also watching Gundam Wing, in earnest, in order to watch Endless Waltz on Xmas. It probably won't come as a surprise if I say the pacing is a bit different than I remember through the first bits. Somewhere between or after Whistle!, I should probably do all the Wing manga but especially Glory.
I need to get to the main library to pick up a 3D print. IDK if I mentioned my last one, but I fully intend to take advantage of this print-on-demand service. (x amount free, very cheap after) Aside from various Gundam add-ons and conversions, there are people just making original model kits and putting them out there for free. Amazing.
(You wouldn't download a Gundam?! Yeah it turns out we all would, I think. Someone made the conversion piece I've always wanted and holy shit, yeah. Yeah.)

Activity #101 - Rainbow Mystery Box

One of the few challenges that wasn't part of the round 100 free-for-all was the Mystery Box challenge, so we'll rectify that now. Welcome to our second Mystery Box challenge!
I created seven different themed boxes, and since I didn't manage to limit myself, they're actually kind of huge... Each contains 30-40 textures and color palettes with one predominant color. You can choose from:
- purple
- red
- orange
- yellow
- green
- blue
- black/white
You can also request a random box, then I'll choose one for you.
There's a comment thread where you can leave a comment to request a box. I will send you the download link for your box as a dm.
Note: I also need a box, and when I was assembling them, one in particular seemed like it would be very challenging for me personally, so that's the one I'll pick.
Special rules for this activity:
* You have to use at least one of the provided textures OR a palette for every icon you make
* You don't have to use all of the provided materials - if you want, you can make all your icons with the same texture
* It would be nice if you mentioned which resource you used for each icon, but it's not absolutely required
(the maker name is enough for me to identify it and link it in the result post - you dont have to link it yourself)
The usual rules:
* You can make as many icons as you like (if you need a goal, five is a good number :))

Thank you to everyone who has sent cards! I have, embarrassingly, completely lost track of things. ^^;; But I have also sent a lot of things... and would feel good about the state of my gifting overall except I have one amazon order from the beginning of the month that hasn't budged!. I suspect next year I will either need to pester people for wishlists at the beginning of November or see if we can skip the 'zon altogether. (Also a few packages out in the void but that's starting to clear up and that's certainly the weather affecting things at this point.)
I have one more day of work left this year, and then nearly two weeks off. I suppose the main thing I need to do is clean/sort/organize. Yet again, not having any clue what I own threatened to bite me in the ass. (Saved! ...by my laziness. I hadn't actually bought the thing I thought I needed but already had.) So, 2026 will be the year of the whole-place inventory and likely clean-out. Maybe I can just start doing a monthly giveaway post?
Finished up RG Exia and put him in the Mangar. Next is a 30MM Horse, which is part of the D&D party that I ordered at Thanksgiving: RG Justice, HG Calibarn, SD Dynames, 30MF Priest, and 30MM Horse. I didn't order a D&D party on purpose! Just... once everyone was in my cart I was just 'lol, this sure is an assortment, or more like a D&D party...'
Neighbor D's memorial service is also today. It's fairly late in the day, so I'm just going to drop by briefly, but I also wouldn't miss it.

I hope tomorrow's better
And maybe next year's better
Than all the painful shatterings
And glass shards on the floor!

Friday, 19 December 2025 18:01paperghost1. Inching close to The Rebrand. I have a few more pages left. If I finish by next week, the only thing I have left are to draw assets.
2. I've decided to stop dieting the way I do. My method of "trying to lose weight" was "calorie counting and eating less" which... isn't working out. My impulse control has improved by drinking inositol this year and it helped me go down 3 pant sizes and 1-2 shirt sizes, but I'm lowkey starving myself by not eating much. It's impacted my brain functions, when I have "low calorie/food" days I have a hard time thinking and doing what I need. So I'm not going to obsess over eating under 1500 calories, just being a bit better. I bought tomatos, eggs, and avocados, and I had a really good breakfast days ago by having that on a rice cracker.
3. I've been addicted to Monster energy. I quit in September because it fucked up my teeth, but went back last month because I worked so many hours before Sonic Expo. Sometimes I really need at least one to get through my shifts. Now I'm trying to cut back again, because out of my two vices, I spend more money on Monster than Littlest Pet Shop toys. My work lets employees have free Red Bulls in the back, so I was drinking those. The issue is, people drank all the regular Red Bulls... and the zero flavor is disgusting, as is the juneberry. So if we don't get normal Red Bulls again tomorrow I may drink ONE Monster a day. Ugh.
Hopefully I will get that bad tooth in the back removed next year... I just don't have time I find a dentist with my work insurance, and then get an appointment on a day off.
4. I'm also cutting down on sleep aides. I'm still taking them, but I realized 5mg of melatonin and 25mg of Diphenhydramine is actually better than 5.5mg and 50mg. I've had trouble getting out of bed or waking up at night on higher doses, so I'll continue this smaller dose on work nights.
5. Speaking of Littlest Pet Shops, my work has holiday-themed blind bags. I got 3 out of 4 so far. Unfortunately, I got a dupe of the rabbit, so I might double check the codes to get the deer. I got the tiger yesterday, and I like it enough to keep as-is instead of modding. Same with the rabbit. I like the deer too and really want it. The penguin on the other hand goes in my "to trade at conventions" bag, lol.
6. My Bluesky domain stopped working last week and the site I got it on, handles.club, is down. It was inevitable, honestly. Giving out people free domains isn't going to last long when meme ones like .pizza, .wine, .voda, .men, etc. are expensive to renew. So I am not getting my .pizza meme domain back because it's very expensive. I might buy a domain after I rebrand, I just don't know which. I figured something like .xyz.
7. My time off request on the 23rd was rejected, so I'm working for the next few days. I REALLY hate last minute shoppers. I almost had a panic attack on the day before Thanksgiving due to complete idiots shopping last minute. The kicker is EVERYTHING IS SOLD OUT!!! For the love of god, stay home on the 23rd. Don't order online. Leave me alone!
